The
following was written by Det. Patrick Lydon, NYPD & is dedicated to the
spouses of all emergency response personnel who gave their lives trying to save
others:
To My darling,
By the time you read this , I'll be gone. Don't weep for me but rejoice in
knowing that I am in a better place.
Tell the kids I love them and know that I love you with all my heart. Know that I lived my life to the fullest and gave it my all. Know that despite the poor pay and lousy hours, I did my job for the love of it, and not because of it. I made you sacrifice some of the things you needed and wanted, and for that I am truly sorry.
Do not mourn my death, but rejoice my life. To my friends, I ask you to keep in contact with my kids as they grow older and tell them about me, about what kind of person I was, for it will help ease their pain.
Darling,
know that I will be with you until the end of time, for I will live on in your
heart, I will be that warm and fuzzy feeling you'll get sometimes. Remember that
I'll always love you.
Your
Hero
