It is not the wealth and riches we
have accumulated,
that make us great,
but what we have given of ourselves.
These were truly great people;
Capt. Harvey Katowitz, NYPD Retired
This site is dedicated to:
Sergeant John McCormick
Police Officer Christopher Hoban
Police Officer Waverly Jones
Three of New York's Finest, who I had the privilege of working with
during my career, and who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting the citizens of New York
City.
"For we cannot tarry here,
We must march, my Darlings
We must bear the brunt of danger,
We, the youthful sinewy races,
All the rest on us depend,
Pioneers! O Pioneers!"
by Walt Whitman
Not gold, but only man can make a people
great and strong;
Men who, for truth and honor's sake, stand fast and suffer long.
Brave men who work while others sleep,
who dare while others fly...
They build a nation's pillars deep and lift them to the sky.

This poem is dedicated to all Police
Officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
A Part of America Died
Somebody killed a policeman today,
and a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
with counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
and spend alone many long nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield too,
just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
to his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
It Happened in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
a cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
and he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call, and gave us his all,
and a part of America died.
